Skin needling has become one of the most popular upcoming treatments for reversing the signs of aging, but what do we really know about skin needling?

Dermapen skin needling is a method of skin resurfacing and rejuvenation. Performed with a topical anaesthetic for comfort, tiny micro needles penetrate the skin at a rapid speed, creating small fractional channels which trigger the healing response of the skin. This process leads to a smoother, livelier complexion, reduction of scarring, uneven pigment, wrinkles and an improvement of skin health.

Is skin needling for me?

Skin needling can be for any skin type as renewing cells can be beneficial to everyone. Whether you are concerned about acne scars, wrinkles or loss of firmness, uneven pigment or enarged pores, dermapen may be the answer for you.

With our Free Skin Analysis, we can determine if dermapen is suitable for you and what you can do to prepare for dermapen, so you can get the best results.

What is so unique about dermapen skin needling?

When we are young our skin has the ability to regenerate our cells. Fibroblasts, the cells responsible for creating new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (skin proteins that give the skin strength, elasticity and hydration) in particular at this age can divide and create new cells, getting rid of old damaged cells, making room for new ones. However, what happens when we reach age 20, this cell division of fibroblasts ceases, so the fibroblasts you have then are cells you have for the rest of your life.

Dermapen is the only treatment that can activate fibroblast cell division, creating new healthy fibroblasts, so your skin can make healthy collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic acid once again.

Dermapen is also able to fractionally target pigmentation in the epidermal layers of the skin, destroying the pigment which allows it to be shed off.

Is the treatment safe?

Dermapen is a one of a kind skin needling system which uses sterilised single use needle cartridges, which means there is absolutely no chance of contamination. The oscillating single use needle cartridge penetrate vertically into the skin and unlike rollers, have zero risk of puckering and triangular scars as the needles are inserted and removed at the same angle. The controlled depth of Dermapen skin needling also means that your skin concerns can be targeted at the exact skin depth needed for your particular concern.

What should I do to prepare my skin for Dermapen treatments?

When you book in for your skin analysis, chances are your skin might not be 100% ready to jump right into needling and you may need some preparation.

Once you book an appointment for your skin analysis, your beauty therapist will advise you on what you need to do to start your Dermapen treatment. As needling requires you to produce healthy new cells, there are certain steps you need to take to prepare for the treatment to make sure you get the best results. By working together with your beauty therapist, you can work towards your skin goals with the best professional advice.

While the treatment has amazing instant results, long term skin improvements are achieved with a series of treatments, consisting of weekly treatments over a course of 6 weeks, followed by a maintenance session once monthly thereafter.

How is the Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusion System different from other oxygen facials?

The Intraceuticals system uses pressurised therapeutic oxygen to form a “bubble” when the applicator is at the skin as opposed to an atomised oxygen spray. This bubble of oxygen increases the saturation of the epidermis, resulting in the rapid absorption of the low molecular weight serum.

This infusion treatment uses a process called Hyaluronic layering. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring essential component in the body which binds moisture to the skin tissue. It is one of the most effective hydrating ingredients that can be applied to the skin and is able to withhold up to a thousand times its weight in water. It gives the skin its turgidity and is found in the connective tissue binding collagen and elastin fibres in our skin.

However, as we age the Hyaluronic acid present in the skin starts to deteriorate, leading to loss of firmness, dehydration and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.  The Hyaluronic Layering method uses three different forms Hyaluronic Acid of different molecular weights layered on the skin, with the use of a full skin system consisting of the infusion with active serum and a deeply hydrating moisturiser during treatment and also in the home care range to deliver deeper hydration and long term results.

Which skin conditions benefit from Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusion?

This destroys the melanin (dark pigment) or acne causing bacteria in the targeted damaged cells, triggering the healing response to rapidly produce new cells in the treated area to promote clearer, healthier skin. Suitable for: Hyperpigmentation or Acne.

One of the major factors that contribute to skin ageing is uneven pigmentation. With our modern lifestyles, we are often exposed to many external factors that lead to free radical damage, causing our cells to weaken and produce excess melanin.

What Causes Pigmentation?

When melanin, the pigment found in the skin that gives it colour, is excessively produced it leads to dark spots or darkened areas of skin. There are many causes of pigmentation including excessive sun exposure, artificial lighting, hair removal such as depilatory creams or shaving, hormonal changes and pregnancy.

The depth of the pigmentation can vary, with the excess melanin being formed in either the epidermal or dermal layer of the skin. When the pigmentation is in the epidermal layer, it is much easier to treat as it is close to the surface. However dermal pigmentation has the melanin in the deeper layers of the skin and requires more intensive treatments.

Intense Pulsed Light Skin Rejuvenation is a form of light-based skin therapy using the most modern technology to treat pigmentation and repair the damaged cells resulting in an even complexion.

Using pulses of light, this technology delivers a variety of wavelengths (or colours) to target damaged skin cells. The light energy is then absorbed by the tissue and converted to heat, which destroys the melanin (dark pigment) and haemoglobin (the red colour in blood vessels) in the targeted damaged cells, triggering the healing response to rapidly produce new cells in the treated area to promote clearer, healthier skin.

IPL is a highly effective form of skin rejuvenation as it emits a higher frequency and intensity of focused light, allowing the treatment area to be specifically targeted without surrounding areas and the skin surface being disrupted. The treatment is non-invasive and for this reason it is the safest option for all skin tones and types, also having the benefit of requiring no down-time after treatment.

What can be treated by IPL Skin Rejuvenation?

Flat pigmented skin spots such as freckles, sun and age spots and general pigmentation. Vascular lesions including spider veins, red spots and broken capillaries. Redness, rosacea and red coloured scarring. Uneven skin colouring Sun damage

When considering IPL Skin Rejuvenation it is important to verify if you have any contraindications to the treatment as it may not be suitable for the following reasons:

Pregnancy Use of ROACCUTANE or medication that makes the skin photosensitive within the last 6 months Recent sunburn Unprotected sun exposure or use of a solarium within 4 weeks History of seizures Dermatitis or eczema in the treatment area

For any of these reasons, it is best to postpone or avoid IPL treatment. Other options that may be suitable depending on the contraindication include Microdermabrasion or the Renewal Program Peeling Treatment.

Pre-treatment Recommendations:

Avoid sun exposure prior to your appointment Avoid self tanners Use sun protection on a daily basis

Post-treatment recommendations:

You must apply sun protection on a daily basis Do not exfoliate the skin for one week Use aftercare products recommended by your skin therapist to boost your results and ensure your skin does not become irritated.

IPL skin rejuvenation can be performed on any areas of the face and body and repeated series of 6 to 14 sessions are recommended for best results.

When actively treating pigmentation, protection is the key to achieving the best results. Always wear a sun protection cream with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 on a daily basis. Exel High Sun Protection Crème SPF 30 provides everyday sun protection and is suitable for the face and body. For a tinted Sun Protection Cream for the face, Exel XL Urban Face Protection SPF 31 gives light coverage, best suited for medium to dark skin tones, while Renewal Sun Protection Crème SPF 37 is best for light skin tones.

When outdoors or exposed to direct sunlight, Exel High Sun Protection Crème SPF 60 (for light skin tones) and XL  Urban Face Protection SPF 60 (for medium to dark skin tones) block the harsh UV rays and are the perfect options for extended sun exposure.

Over time, our skin faces many changes The condition of the skin and the concerns we have differ greatly depending on our age, as many internal and external factors play a major role in the overall health of the skin.

Treating the skin with these changes in mind, will give you the most in depth approach to facial care as it not only incorporates treating what is visible on the epidermis but also gives us an understanding of the processes within the body at a particular age.

With the Tailored Signature Facial, your skin is assessed with the consideration of your age, skin type and conditions to create a customised treatment especially designed just for you.

Teens During the teenage years the hormonal activity rises and the body faces many changes. Oil production in the skin during this stage is dramatically increased and balancing the sebum that is produced becomes a major focus. Acne is a common condition that affects teenagers for this reason, as well as clearing blackheads, congestion and pustules.

To take care of teenage skin Exclusively Beauty has developed the Teen Deep Cleansing Facial, to clear the build-up of acne causing bacteria, extract comedones while balancing and calming the skin.

Establishing a regular skincare routine during the teenage years is important, as this puts good habits in place for years to come. Sun Protection should always be a priority, especially during outdoor activity. The most common skin problems are: Overproduction of sebum and acne.

Twenties In your twenties, it is important to adjust your routine to incorporate protection and prevention of aging later in life. Keeping the skin hydrated and the pores clean are two of the most important steps to preventing premature aging later in life, while infusing antioxidant rich Vitamin C protects the cells from free radical damage and provides cellular health.

If you have oily skin or acne, clearing the skin and balancing sebum production is important. Extraction of blackheads and skin congestion are recommended the clear pores and allow the absorption of hydrating ingredients. The use of overly aggressive acne products should be avoided as at this age as they can strip and over-sensitise the skin, possibly leading to the development of pigmentation. The most common skin problems are: Dehydration and Pigmentation

Thirties During the thirties, collagen and elastin fibres begin to break down and the skin’s renewal process begins to gradually slow. Protecting and nourishing the skin prevents premature aging, while sun protection and the prevention of pigmentation becomes a focus.

The Tailored Signature Facial in this instance is adjusted to include antioxidant ingredients, which deliver skin repairing benefits and prevent excess melanin production. The first appearance of fine lines, usually occur during the thirties, commonly the first place being around the eye contour. As the skin can start to become dryer a nourishing ingredients are incorporated to soothe and calm the skin. The most common skin problems are: Dehydration, pigmentation and the first appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Forties During the forties environmental aggressors often begin to take their toll on the skin, which is why pigmentation and an uneven complexion are common skin conditions for people of this age. The skin becomes dryer and with the loss of collagen and skin volume starts to visibly affect the skin. Lines and wrinkles at this stage can appear deeper.

To keep the skin looking youthful and healthy, the cells need to be repaired with powerful antioxidant ingredients such as Vegetable DNA and Hyaluronic Acid. These ingredients not only hydrate and moisturise but also boost collagen production, repair micro-damage caused by external and internal factors, while being suitable for the most sensitive of skin. The Tailored Signature Facial is customised to the condition of the skin to boost skin repair, deliver moisture and hydration.

The onset of the pre-menopausal stages start to affect the skin and premature menopause can also be an issue. The skin can become dryer on the face and body which may cause discomfort. As a result deeper hydration, moisture and nourishment is needed. The most common skin problems are: Premature aging, dryness and premature menopausal effects.

Fifties During the fifties, the effects of menopause start to become more apparent. The lowered levels of oestrogen lead to a lack of moisture and hydration, leaving the skin extremely dry.  Hot flushes brings along inflammation, sensitivity and discomfort. A loss of firmness begins to appear due to the breakdown of collagen and elastin fibres, making the skin appear lax and facial contours lose their definition.

The skin needs to be taken care of very carefully due to these reasons, with potent active ingredients in a light non-irritating texture. The Tailored Signature Facial is customised to deeply nourish, moisturise and induce collagen synthesis to promote skin firmness, improve texture and soothe irritation. The eye area can also become dry, develops deeper wrinkles and the area needs to be treated with ingredients that mimic the effect of oestrogen on the skin, such as phospholipids from soya lecithin to deeply soften and nourish the delicate eye contour.

Opt for a steam free treatment when affected by hot flushes to avoid overheating and discomfort. Alternatively try the Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial, for a hydration boosting treatment which lifts the skin while cooling and calming redness. The most common skin problems are: Lines, wrinkles, hot flushes and dryness for the face and body.

Sixties and above During the 60’s and onward, the connective tissue that stabilises the skin and muscles, attaching them to the bones called fascia, begins to deteriorate causing loss of firmness and sagging in the skin. Firming and collagen synthesis are a must during skin treatment as well as during daily at home care, to effectively tighten visible laxity.

Cellular turnover is now significantly slowed and as a result the skin can appear dull. Wrinkles at this stage are deeper and often develop around the mouth. As the hormone levels now begin to normalise, skin sensitivity and redness can decline. This allows skin treatments to become more active. The most common skin problems are: Loss of firmness and laxity.

The Tailored Signature Facial assists skin desquamation, bringing fresh cells to the surface and stimulates circulation for a vibrant complexion.

For a deeply active Skin Tightening treatment using state of the art technology, Radio Frequency Skin Tightening with Microdermabrasion visibly tightens the skin, minimising skin laxity and depth of lines and wrinkles. Microdermabrasion improves cellular turnover and evens the skin tone. With regular monthly visits, Radio Frequency Skin Tightening with Microdermabrasion stimulates collagen fibres to be produced, resulting in improved skin volume.

Hydrodermabrasion is the newest innovation in deep cleansing suitable for all skin types and ages.

Hydrodermabrasion uses the power of water for youthful and radiant skin. It effectively vacuums dead skin build up and excess oils clogging pores, while deeply infusing hydration, improving cellular health and skin nutrition.

The unique exfoliating tips range from gentle exfoliation to a microdermabrasion style tips that effectively remove thick layers of dead skin, combined with a water vacuum to clear the toughest blackheads. The vacuum suction improves blood and lymphatic circulation to improve the absorption of nutrients for improved skin health, while improving cellular turnover for younger looking skin by improving the process of creating fresh new cells. This in turn also improves uneven hyperpigmention, by renewing and rejuvenation the skin’s surface, especially when combined safely with our one and only Lactic Peel. This unique controlled micropeel dissolves the glue like substance holding dead cells to the skin’s surface inducing even exfoliation of pigmented cells while boosting the natural desquamation function.

Even if you are too sensitive to pressure for a regular microdermabrasion, now you can enjoy a deep exfoliation and extractions comfortably.

No discomfort or downtime!

Hydrodermabrasion is a gentler option which is fully customisable to your skin’s needs. The infusion of hydration with the selection of a softer tip allows the treatment  to be safely performed on skin types with sensitivity as it can have the minimum suction and gentle exfoliation, resulting in an effective treatment that won’t leave you looking  too flushed.

Did you know that the excess production of sebum and blocked pores lead to pimples and pustules?

Hydrodermabrasion is also perfect for clearing acne, blackheads and comedones as the spiralled water vacuum dislodges stubborn oxidised sebum that congests acne prone and oily skin.

Skin dehydration is a common problem all year round. The purpose of this treatment is to induce an even and safely controlled micro exfoliation of the skin. It contains neutralised fruit and salicylic acid in gel which gradually releases the actives to the skin, depositing a minimal concentration with less risk of side effects.

The micro exfoliation stimulates renewal of the epidermis and helps to improve the skin conditions, leaving the skin rejuvenated. This unique system stimulates sub dermal activities that “renew” the anti-aging mechanisms of the skin. Renewal Program will leave your skin feeling instantly smooth and fresh, promoting new skin and collagen growth.

Electrolysis Hair Removal Sydney: Treatment

Electrolysis uses a small needle called a filament, which is inserted directly into the hair follicle and passes an electrical current directly into the hair root. Once the individual hair is treated, it is removed by tweezers. Electrolysis in Sydney is easy to find, but very hard to find a reputable beauty clinic that offers it.

The number of sessions of Electrolysis in Sydney depends on several factors including the condition of the hair, hormonal dysfunction or medical conditions. From our experience, to see the results it may take more than 10 sessions, and treatments may need to go on for several months.

skin renewal program

The key feature of the Skin Renewal Program is the use of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), including glycolic, lactic, mandelic and citric acids, which are the mildest of the peel formulas, to produce a light and even peel on the skin.

It works by penetrating the skin and loosening the ‘glue’ that binds dead cells together, resulting in a deep exfoliation which leads to softer, smoother skin and a brighter complexion.
